Trails - Brisbane Forest Park ( National Park )

Brisbane Forest Park ( National Park )

BPF covers a large area of forestry and a huge amount of trails. Area's such as Bunyaville State Forest and Ironbark on the nth western side of the city are included as well Camp Mt and far up the range to Mt Glorious and beyond. It stretches right down towards Wivenhoe Dam and Lake Manchester. Even Gap Creek and Mt Coot-tha are officially part of BFP even though they are managed by the BCC instead of QPWS. Gap Creek, Bunyaville, Ironbark, Camp Mt and Bellbird Grove are all covered in separate sections.

This page will concentrate on what is commonly thought of as BFP and shown on the maps to the right. The area has a large range of demanding trails of all types, and although there are a few single-tracks, the vast majority of the riding is mostly fireroads and management roads climbing from low elevations up to as high as 700m in places.

There are climbs/descents that last several kilometres making it a haven for the serious cross country rider to train.

You can get a full contour map from the Park headquarters on Mt Nebo Rd, The Gap (at the end of Waterworks Rd).

The main arteries in BFP are Sth Boundary Rd, Augies Rd, Light Line Rd, Cabbage Tree Range Rd. For the adventurous trail breaks like Black Soil Track, Hell Hole Break provide some steep descents and technical climbing.
