Trails - Scribbly Gum Conservation Area
Scribbly Gum Conservation Area
It is named after the large number of Scribbly Gum (Eucalyptus racemosa) trees and is also the home of the rare plant species,Eprapah wattle (Acacia perangusta). You will also see lots of the Swamp Wallabies and Redneck Wallabies and some Koalas.
All trails are informal, unofficial and unmaintained. Also the tracks are unnamed so navigation can be fun. Half of the gates are permanently locked but don’t be afraid to pick up the bike and throw it over, bikes and bush walkers are most welcome anywhere you see the friendly Redlands City Council Parks and Conservation signs.
In the centre of the green space is the Cleveland Sewage Treatment Plant which separates the well used northern part from the neglected southern tracks. The plant is mostly unfenced inferring that they don’t mind if you skirt around the edges a bit.
Scribbly Gum also includes a designation for a future transport corridor connecting Wellington St Cleveland to Moreton Bay Rd Capalaba. Theexact manner in which this Corridor will be utilised (transport, green space or trails) has not yet been decided.
