Hmmm...not so much positive feedback after the 6 hour that was run at the end of a 24 hour last year..

2010 ay-up dusk til dawn

DUSK TO DAWN 12 HOUR

20TH February (POSTPONED)

Thank you for your entry in the Ay Up Dusk to Dawn 12 Hour Challenge.

I woke up this morning and it was bright sunshine but as I write this e-mail it is raining again.

You would of received an email from us advising of the change of date from the original (30TH January to 20th February) Now postponed to the 7th/8th August.

I should change my occupation from Sports Promoter to "RAIN MAKER".

As you have all seen my t.v. reports our area has received unprecedented rainfall. Tamborine received the most rainfall since 1888 over 400mls (16") in one night. Our venue is the bottom of tamborine and the hills you ride lead up to Mt Tamborine. We received over 360mls rain at our venue plus the water flowing down from the mountain. Such was the force that it moved our 20ft laiden shipping container & the bridges over our creek crossings. The camp area is water-logged at present. With more rain expected we will not be able to get the course ready for 2 weeks time to our high expectations to give you the best possible course and event.

We had everything ready to go,course was perfect, Ay Up Dusk to Dawn Travel Coffee Mugs for your freebie, trophies etc.

NEW DATE - 7TH/8TH AUGUST

In consultation with our Sponsors, suppliers and checking the riding calendar we have re-scheduled the Ay Up Dusk to Dawn 12 Hour to the 7th/8th August.

All entries have been transferred over to the new date 7th/8th August

You do not need to do anything just turn up on the day. If you need to substitue team members because they can't make the new date please let us know. You do not need to fill in another form.

If you can't make the new date you can transfer your entry over to the upcoming Avanti Plus 6Hr Enduro on the 28th March. Please let us know as soon as possible. You will need to fill in a new off-line entry form to keep the paperwork correct.

................. I wish to transfer to Avanti Plus 6Hr Enduro

(Only send back if you can't make the Ay-Up Dusk to Dawn 12hr in August)

"GLASS HALF FULL"

Looking at it as "Glass Half Full" you now have more time to train and the event has only been postponed to a later date you still get to take part in it. There is nothing that can't be repaired with more work from us to get the course in perfect shape and we will still have a great events in the future.

We know you were all really keen and ready to ride and will be disappointed like us that we have had to postponed but we can all look towards the future!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PLUS 6HR ENDURO- 28TH March

We can now all focus on the upcoming Avanti Plus 6Hr Enduro which is only 47 DAYS away. You can take part as a solo rider or in teams of 2, 3 or 4 person "newbie" class. We will also have junior/schools category so get your local high schools involved in putting some teams in.

This will be a fantastic day so don't miss out. http://www.twowheelpromotions.com.au/services/link.php?URL=aHR0cHM6Ly90d293aGVlbHByb21vdGlvbnMuY29tLmF1L2VudHJ5Zm9ybXMvcmVnaXN0cmF0aW9uLnBocA%253D%253D%26Name=%26EncryptedMemberID=NDM0MA%253D%253D%26CampaignID=254%26CampaignStatisticsID=181%26Demo=0%26Email=k.hendrickson@uq.edu.au" target="_blank">ENTRIES NOW OPEN.

It will take some time to make all the changes on our website etc, our main focus now is letting all the riders, suppliers etc know of the change of date . Can you please make sure all your friends and team mates know. We will also open entries up for riders who could not make this date but can now come in August.

We would like to thank you all for your understanding and look forward to seeing you all soon.On the positive side if your friends missed out on the Ay Up Dusk to Dawn 12 Hour they can now enter the new date.

You'll need to take your winter woolies there in August, it will be freezing during the later night laps.

At least everyone will be well and truly fit by then.

Hey All I'm in a two man team for the Dusk 'til Dawn this weekend, but my partner can't make it anymore. Anyone interested in stepping in? My partner's already paid up so I was thinking we'd split the remaining cost 50/50 (so it'd be $50 each rather then $100 ($85+insurance)) I'm decently fit (45-55min laps of OHV for the Merida 24hr - team of 4, then 3, then 2). But am really just up for a ride. Let me know if you're interested - need to get this sorted ASAP, Cheers, Joel

Very, very cold. Someone told me that sensor in his car said 3 degrees, can believe that!

Great track for a 12 hour night ride. We rode as the only ladies 4 in the Mixed category and were very happy with 22 laps for 2nd place. What a great event, despite the temperature, We all had a ball!

My race report here. http://imagesbyantz.blogspot.com/2010/08/dusk-to-dawn-canungra-2010.html

Summary. I was more shattered from that 12hrs, than 24hrs at OHV. I almost pulled the pin at 4am. Lucky I didn't as I ended up 3rd in category. Sean Beckers 1st, MattDog 2nd. AdventureRuss was fist in 40+ and 3rd overall. Sorry, I can't recall who was 2nd and 3rd in 40+ or the solo women results.

Fun, tough track (especially on a hardtail), but too short for us solos ( I did 22 laps, talk about Dejavu). Support on the track and spectators was awesome, but 1st prize goes to the girls at CP1. Fantastic catching up with MTBDirters. Trophies were cool too.

I feel good after a couple of hrs sleep.

I didn't think it was much colder than OHV, although waiting for the race start was freezing, but a brisk race start and I certainly warmed up.

Top work all. Congratulations Antz, Matt_dog and AdventuRuss! Although I'd have thought 12hrs was way too short for Russ!
