Cedar Creek Road to Mt Glorious?

G'day Everyone

After confessing to Zepinator today that I was a lurker, I thought I'd mend my ways, make a post and ask a question Smile

I really enjoyed my ride from Lawnton up to Mount Glorious via Samford today, even though it was raining bucket loads.

But after looking at the map, it looks like Cedar Creek Road enters the D'Aguilar National Park and I was wondering if anyone knows if it's possible to ride from there up to Mt Glorious (or if too steep, maybe in reverse?).

Has anyone ridden this area?

It would be cool if there was a track, as that would mean I could ride up the Goat Track and then down some cool trails and quiet roads back to Eaton's Xing Road without having to race petrol guzzlers down the mountain.

BTW I got soaked in the rain which killed my N95 phone even though it was in ziplock bag. Moral of the story: Put phone in bag before trip and don't open it - even if the weather clears for a while Smile Time for a waterproof Garmin I think!

Cedar Creek Road to Mt Glorious?

I lived on Cedar Creek road for 20 years and there aint anything there as far as i can recall. Most of the maps have road gazzettes on them, but theirs definately not anything resembling a road there. At the end of tar road is private property and a big gate. We used to go up there to the falls at one point, but not anymore. You can walk in via the creek and up to the national park, but thats serious grade 5 off trail stuff and you wont get a bike in there. My dad has walked most of the national park and private property that side of glorious and its mostly tiger country. You can ride from Samford across house mountain and down to mayfield road. It is on the plans to one day link that trail up to mt glorious. There is a trail that comes in Harland road in that direction that wouldnt take much to join up if they got permission. It used to get used a lot because there is an old hangglider platform up there.

If you dont mind epic is, you could head up to glorious, head down Raynbird creak road (firetail) and around through kobble creek an then back around. Epic but doable. Apparently you can get up to the top of Mt samson, but im not sure if you could get up the back of mt glorious that way.

Cedar Creek Road to Mt Glorious?

I did a lot of hiking up there in my pre-cycling life and unless things have changed there wouldn't be any way to ride through there at all. My memory is that the creek was the only way up and this involved climbing a few small waterfalls etc..

Cedar Creek Road to Mt Glorious?

I am currently a Cedar Creek Rd. resident and the only tracks up to Glorious are through private property. Several trails come out on Harland Rd but the only one that would be rideable starts from private property off Kirk Rd. Others ways up are very overgrown and steep. Great views from the top though.

Epic is good Smile

Have you ridden Raynbird Ck Rd? If so, what's it like? It's not visible on Google Maps Satelite View (although the road is on the maps) so it looks like might end up being a bit rough Smile
