Ace Frehley of KISS

As many of you are aware, I have a "slight" passion for all things KISS. Just got home from seeing Ace Frehley (the spaceman) of KISS fame playing in Bisbane. The tour was originally slated for October last year but was postponed until tonight. (poor ticket sales... cough cough) Pretty good turn up since there was no publicity, except for an interview on Sunrise last week. I'd guess 400 people. The KISS classics got the biggest crowd reaction. Smoking guitar solo is still fun too.

He played songs from 1974 -2009 (that's 35yrs for those who can't count). Mixture of classic KISS and his own solo works. I've been lucky enough now to see 5 of the members of KISS play solo shows here in Brisbane over the years. KISS also featured in a commercial in todays superbowl, but it wasn't shown here in Australia. (see link)

I can hope that when I get into my 60's, I can still rock like that.

wouldn't have picked you for a KISS fan at all Mikus666.

I remember back in the 70's not sure what year, they played AFL park which was about 5 or 6 kms from home. at that age at the time I wasn't allowed to go to the concert, but it didn't matter, we could hear it all.

glad you liked it Mikus, some old rockers should just curl up and never be seen again, sounds like Ace is at the other end of that spectrum.

Kiss? Oh yeah - I remember them. They're the band that got all dressed up in make-up, weren't they? And had songs like 'Do You Really Want To Hurt Me?' and 'Karma Chameleon'? Singers name was George, wasn't it?

Good on you Mikus666, ignore the great unenlightened rabble that surround us. I guess that was you who came up to say hi on Saturday night at the Summer Cup. I am the owner of the 'other' Kiss jersey.

Also love Kiss, but just couldn't stretch to the $90 to go last night. Glad it was a good one and he can still rock. Saw Judas Priest at the EntCent last year and they were awesome!

Time to set the ipod playlist to "K"...

Best concert of the year, circa 1982. Kiss at Lang Park. Absolutely AWESOME show!!

Though I think they were having a few technical difficulties. All their stuff kept exploding! And the poor guy on bass! Man, he should've gone and had a good lie down. He was bleeding from the mouth!! fright
