Noosa Enduro

We regret to inform that unfortunately the Noosa Enduro will be postponed in 2010 due to a lack of partner funding; this was a difficult decision but unfortunately in this economic time the financial strain was too great.

Whilst this is disappointing, as we know many people were looking forward to the event, we have not given up on this great mountain bike carnival and plan to re-launch the Noosa Enduro bigger and better in May 2011 as part of the Noosa Winter Festival. The inaugural Noosa Winter Festival will run on the 22-23 May in 2010, offering a fantastic weekend of events, including the Noosa Blue Water Swim, Noosa Half Marathon, 10km and 5km runs and the Noosa Century Cycle (160km & 100km). With the Noosa Enduro joining the event line up in 2011, this will be a Festival not to be missed.

We look forward to inviting all our Noosa Enduro enthusiasts to the Ultimate Festival weekend in 2011. Stay tuned for more details as the Enduro will have a new base, new course and a very exciting finish line.

It's a shame it didn't go ahead- it's a really good event. I think there's also a chrity that misses out on some $ as a beneficiary of the event?

shame, it was a very well run event. putting it into the middle of that festival will put me off doing again, really do not want to battle potential traffic from people attending other activities.

pain is temporary, quitting is forever

Damn....done every one since it started. Have already pre-booked and payed for Hastings Street, Noosa accomodation. Will still go anyways.

Was a good training loop for the EPIC....(minus the dust)

The USM website and the workingwonders website still list it as going ahead? You'd think a cancellation would be followed immediately with confirmation on at least one of the websites.....

The enduro page itself is updated with the news.

Makes the Noosa 000 event the one to do on the sunny coast for this year so get behind it and support a good charity.

Ahhh sorry I thought that the 000 was the one that was cancelled.

Glad that one is still going ahead, as we have 8 or 9 mates keen for that.

Last year was my first in Mountain Biking.I did 3 events, Insomnia as a solo rider,Noosa advanced Fifty and the Epic 100.

My plan for this year was to repeat those 3 and improve my times!

I heard this rumour a few weeks back and refused to believe it could be true

For those looking for a replacement ride pre epic then take a look at the Pleasure and Pain Enduro on Aug 8.

I did this ride last year and liked it so much i'll be heading down to Coffs again to ride some of the sweetest single track i've sent put together over this distance.

I also heard a rumour that the Noosa was off about 4 weeks ago (but was sworn to secrecy).

I only wish the organizers had come out and said they were short of a sponsor back in January. This has always been a very popular event and I wonder whether the overwhelming number of keen and interested riders expressing a wish for the event to go ahead, may have helped attract a sponsor.

I reckon not finding a sponsor is a load of bull***. I mean yeah ok no major sponsor THIS year. No company can afford it bla bla bla. But, USM is a business, they take our money for insurance, banannas and jelly beans, and a few banners. Of course a few other minor things which I'm sure at $70ish dollars each and 1000ish competitors they'd break even at least. So USM don't make a big profit out of this year. Nobody's making a lot of money this year. But it doesn't mean you just cancel and let everyone down. It's like BP saying sorry no diesel for you guys cause we're not making a big enough profit. Or Qantas cancelling flights cause oh hang on they did that... My point is some years you make a lot other years you scrape through. You don't just give up on your customers.

Last year there were 700-800 competitors all up i think.

When you look at how many marshals they had out on the track and all the work they put into the Rego and transition area. All those volunteers would have to be paid in some way.

I doubt they would of made a profit last year.
