Logan/ Redlands Enduro Ride

NEW START TIME 5:30am Saturday 20th March 2010

Hi, this one has been talked about for awhile, combining some of the best trails in Logan/ Redlands into an Epic ride with a slightly different slant. I'll be hooking up with my mate Big Man Bogan at Valley Way shops for the old Hillbillies trail section (Mt Cotton) but the ride will also include Eastern Escarpment, Karingal, Daisy Hill and the Cornubia Bushland Corridor for those with the legs. Experienced and/or moderately fit riders are welcome to join for all or part of the ride as there will be stoppages with the usual bush banter.

The Loose plan will be as follows and I will try firm up times as it gets closer:

Saturday 20th March 2010 Weather and Trail Conditions dependent.

5:45 am- Anakie Park Scout Den, Habitat Trail, Hideaway Mountain Parkview drop in, stupidly happy return, Jack's loop, Boganubia, WMC access trail, Gramzow, Ironbark, Valley Way (6-6:30am- will confirm the start time from Mt Cotton). Approx 10-15km

Approx 25 km Loop- Bayside Hillbillies classic loop followed by re-stocking hydration

Eastern Escarpment via West Mount Cotton Rd- this is the main piece of bitumen what includes some climbing as I don't want to get itchy bush bashing up Gramzow. Approx 10-15 km

Karingal loop- approx 7-8 km

Onwards to Stonehench, grass trees, Ripleys, Nirvana reverse, back way to Cornubia Forest. Stupidly Happy and back to Anakie Park Carpark for the stayers. 20km

Riders need to carry everything they will need for 6+ hours of riding give or take if they are doing the full ride. For a Lazy Fiver I'll supply a tea spoon of cement what you can chomp down with your gravel. Plan to be home for lunch so my wife can cook us some eggs and bancon in lingerie.

I hope it's your wife wearing the lingerie, as it may make the bacon rather chewy.

Maybe A photo of your wife in said lingerie will improve the numbers of riders planing to complete the ride.

Awwwww Jimmy... I've been waiting for this ride to happen for months, and I'm on call all weekend at Logan.

Bawl

Hopefully, the tracks will dry out enough to make this an awesome ride. Wish I could join the mob.

Jim, adding up the distances that you indicated, this will be approx 75-80k of riding, which sounds awesome.

Can you do this again on another date, as I am dead keen, but have committed for the Dirtfest

Yes- I'm planning a few repeats/ variations (e.g start DH top carpark )of this ride over the next two or three months as training preparation for the Merida 24. Hopefully there will be enough climbs to keep Juscrusin happy, I'm sure we can incorporate a few hidden gem ball tearer's in the backcountry. The distances are estimate's only but it would be easy to increase but bear in mind there is a lot of trail riding and time may be a factor. To be honest I'd like to stretch it out to 100km. If there is an increased interest for the following Saturday, I'll look at re-scheduling it and shorten next week to a Bayview loop.

If it was me wearing lingierie you would proberly lose your breakfast and lunch and that's before even getting on the bike. My wife would not approve of me putting her picture on the internet so out of luck there sorry but here's one I prepared earlier:

I should be a starter for this one Jimmy. Be good to ride some trails again that I have not been on for a while.

Lets hope the mud dries up. Do we have to bring the chainsaw.

Cheers

Sure, take the Bogandome exit off the M1, head down Bryants Rd and turn left onto Anakie Drive. The entrance to Anakie Park and the Scout Den is on the right just past Ballan Court- Off street parking and all.

Nick- hopefully shouldn't need the Chainsaw but its been about that long ago since I rode through that bit so I hope we done enough to ensure the trail still exists. I would bring gears though I will cut yous up

The Weather is looking to remain unkind- unbelievable. I was hoping to get a few days to dry out but with the current downpour, its looking shaky. The Ridglines and stoney gravelly tracks are holding up well but lower areas and dirt terrians like Daisy won't be dry by Saturday. I'll wait till Friday to make the call whether to shorten it to a Bayview loop. Might be better on the 20th for a longer one.

I hope the weather improves. In up for this ride on an alternative drier day.

Mate I would love to come also but have a wedding that day starting at lunch. I was talking to a bloke a couple of weeks ago who said the Maze in Bayview is fairly overgrown still, almost non-ridable. Just a heads up Smile

Def keen for another time!!

Thanks for the heads up Deano, it's getting that way along the fringes lately. I'll have to go check if my Ryobi is where I left it.

Plan to be there on the SS if the weather holds out. Just looked outside, puddle is almost dry and blue sky everywhere.Thumbs up

I may have a comittment for the 2nd half of the day, so might have to bail a little early - not sure yet and will depend on how we are going in terms of progress.
