Logan/ Redlands Enduro Ride

Quote: Jim R

Howdy Boys and Girls,

Anyone looking to do a harder ride, there is a repeat dose on the west side leaving the Gap Creek Reserve lower carpark at 5am sharp this SUNDAY. The ride will head out GCR via Brisbane forest park around Enogerra dam, over IronBark and around Bunja Park return approx 85-100km.

My dragon likes me home nice and early so the ride will have minimal stops and be suitable to riders who stir in one or two teaspoons of cement into their morning brew. Also Nexusfish is riding and it has lots of hills so you know it's going to hurt.

Cheers Jim

A couple of years ago we had to carry your sorry arse back on that very ride, you have obviously improved your endurance since them Jimmyhihi

Might be in for this if I don't do the Freedom race...I'll let you know later in the week

I commiteed to this ride before i realised that im doing the freedom marathon that weekend, so ill be pretty average. I believe Jim is doing a pretty hard week too, so i don think there will be any power house performances...

Oh yeah, I remember dummy. You and Nick disappearing up Camp Mountain as I revisited the taste of the lovely home cooked muffins for a second time.

What's interesting about this I kept my GPS data for that ride (in memory of my suffering) and looking at today's ride you buggers some how managed to find an extra 1000 metres of vertical ascent. My guess is the Camp Mountain detour which may have added another 300 metres to the altitude. Today we did about 75 km with around 1800 m of climbing. Anyway I can't make sense of it but I don't suppose if we were to turned around and ride back up Camp mountain to get that extra 1000 metres in 20km it would take 2 hours so I guess I am riding stronger now as my bike is pretty much exactly the same. Anyway we had a great ride and the weather was nice and the bike is getting close to how I want it and the technique is returning and hopefully also my form.

Here's the two GPS data sets from today and also a couple of years ago when I bonked on the way back with Winner and Nick:

Cheers and maybe squeeze one more in over the next couple of weeks. Jim

Logan/ Redlands Enduro Ride

Well thats an easy one Jim. The 1st time we did south boundary, centre rd, bellbird grove, camp mt and a nasty little climb in Ironbark, as well as an extra 6 or so km in Bunya. When i completly kick this lurgy out of my system we can do a repeat journey if you like. Muffin and carrot cake included. I am free the weekend after the karingal.

I'll be in Canberra that weekend racing 24 hours. I'd really like to do that again sometime but remember I ride a long travel dually so am no match for you on the climbs.

Rowan, I'm putting down the hurt for one more tough week followed by some anarobic work before taming down the lactic before the race. Good luck with your prep and have fun out there and well done not taking it too seriously.

Logan/ Redlands Enduro Ride

Hi All,

I'm finally being let out of my box again and I admit I haven't done much riding so up for an extended roll around the park on 11th June 2011. This would be suitable for anyone interested in enduro riding and may be doing the 8hour at Old Hidden Vale on the 19th. I'm helping to prepare a mate for the Cycle Epic but he's relatively new so not sure if he will have the legs. Either post here if your interested or send me a PM and I will finalise the time and place weather dependent it will either be from Gap Creek Reserve or a variation of the Logan/ Redlands enduro in this thread.

Cheers Jim

Trade ins welcome:

Yeah Bancon can be arranged I'll have my missus in the kitchen. So to firm up the ride details it will be an early kick off on the day so will need lights for the first hour or so. The options are:

A variation of the Logan/ Redlands loops

Gap Creek Reserve to Bellbird grove and Camp mountain possibly IronBark.

50km singletrack loop of Nerang.

Attending so far: My new old mate Pedro, maybe Wheeled Josh and one other who says it like it is and doesn't mind upsetting the apple cart. yellNexusFish after a stella rise up ranks in 2010 has gone MIA. What's happened chief, I miss our rides?

Logan/ Redlands Enduro Ride

UPDATE to Sunday 12-06-11 On weather permitting (sorry boss cracked whipshineyeehah)-

Ok, Updating ride details here to give anyone a chance to join up for all or part of this ride. Now sticking to plan A- Logan/ Redlands with the following options:

a) For those with lights and needing to be home in reasonable time it will start at the Lockgate at the top of Hideaway mountain which is on Roderick Street Cornubia Heights at 4:45am. We will drop into Parkview on Donkey Kong and head up the SH reverse shute, Jacks and onwards to Daisy Hill.

b) For those without lights the start will be Daisy Hill Top Car Park at 6:35am. This part of the ride will be socially orientated but include some hard riding around the Daisy Hill network and be suitable for sportif riders. After approx 20-30km we will swing back past the top car park to drop off short range riders.

c) The remaining few will push on the Eastern Escarpment via the backcountry taking in signature trails such as reverse Nirvana, stupidly happy and Wallum Froglet (opps that right its still a deadend). Anyone who started on hideaway with a deadline can peel off.

Depending on time and how riders are going after the summit of the escarpment a loop of the Karingal circuit will be smashed before heading back to my batcave on hideaway mountain for some podium girls:
