Nutrition and Fluids for a team 12 hour...

Hi guys, I'll be doing my first 12 hour (the 000), but in a team of 3. Just wondering what people would recommend in terms of nutrition and hydration etc for such an event, as I assume you can't really just have a massive lunch at lunch time, then a big dinner at dinner time, since you will probably feel like crap.

Should I be eating and drinking small amount very regularly, ie maybe between every lap? What kind of things should I be eating and drinking, sports drinks? Protein shakes? Muesli bars? etc.

Appreciate the advice.

I'd say stick with light meals- rice, tuna, bananas etc.

As for hydration, that's usually a personal thing which you figure out after having done a few more events.

Nutrition and Fluids for a team 12 hour...

Hi, Zadam.

Madmike, myself and a few others in our possie last year did a lot of reasearch and developed a great program which basically followed the Hammer programme tailored to us as individuals. It was discussed on MTBdirt earlier:

I said something there but Madmike probably said it better after Smile. I can't speak highly enough of the stuff. The theory behind it makes more sense in my opinion than the other rationales put together. I'll stress once more that it's my opinion but our whole group from last year will testify how much it improved our racing in long events especially. See you soon on the trails, mate.
