I got some good advice from you guys about the Lepo here - thanks!!!
We rode it yesterday as part of a 66km loop from Samford, up the Goat Track, to Tension Woods Mountain, down the Lepo, and back along Mt Samson Road to Samford. I've uploaded some pictures a short video and a track log here: http://blog.neilennis.com/index.php/down-the-lepidozamia-track/
It's a beautiful ride with amazing views and some pretty rare plant species.
The steep downhill section is awesome! We were descending some steep rocky tracks for ages - I reckon at least 5km.
But we had to cross Kobble Creek so many times. I reckon we crossed it maybe 20 times. It wasn't difficult - just meant getting off the bike, and getting wet feet.
And the other problem was my riding buddy got heaps of punctures. We went through three spare tubes, and the only reason he didn't get another puncture was that I used half a roll of duct tape inside his tyre to try and stop any more. He only had standard Kenda tyres. I had Armadillos and love them - geeze they can take some punishment.
I'm glad I over pack and carry so much crap in my backpack - it saved the day for us
I used a helmet cam to record the descent. It bumped around heaps so it will take a while for me to edit out the rubbish and get something watchable out of it. But when I do, you guys will be fhe first to know.
I have one question. When we left the national park to get back onto the bitumen, I think we took a wrong turn and ended up in someones farm. They weren't annoyed, but I don't like hassling land owners if I can help it. Would someone please have a look at my track log and let me know where I went wrong? It's where the track joins up with Dales Road.
