We have a very enthusastic MTB member who keeps talking about going on trips to ride in exotic locations, however this young fella hasn't ridden any of the awesome places to ride in his own back yard (apart from Daisy Hill).

So i thought we could help him out by suggesting some top local places, then I'll put them up as a poll

So suggest away; the top ten places in south Qld and Northern NSW - excluding Daisy Hill - I'll start with a couple;

Well. Take it from an old fart like me. It's not where you ride but who you ride with. I've ridden lots of places around the globe and plenty of good spots too. But my best memories are right here in Qld with the friends I've made through MTB Dirt. I won't wax lyrical for any longer save a few of my favourite Qld rides with my mates from MTB Dirt.

1. Queen Mary Falls and Koorelah NP

2. Beautiful Betsy B-24D Liberator bomber

3. Bunya Mtns to Linville including Emu Creek & Rohlmans Rd

4. Nanango to Yarraman via 7 Mile Diggings

5. Nth Straddie via Eastern Escarpment

6. Brisbane Forest Park- various including access via Camp Mtn and the ride down Centre Rd

7. Stanthorpe and associated National Parks

8. Noosa Enduro 100klm route.

That'll do for now.

Mt Archer runs in Rocky

Any Cairns Track

Kinchent Dam DH in Mackay (and the XC singletrack is up there too)

Mt Perry

Garapine ( and keen to see what new stuf we get at Wyralong Dam)

Noosa Hinterland (Stay tuned for new Enduro Course)

I agree with Groundhog with good mates and clear skys (or fun mud) any trail is a great ride)

Tewantin in Noosa, Bayview (Redland Bay), Wamuran...( I think thats how its spelt, correct me if I'm wrong though)......oh and karingal in Mt Cotton.

Yep. Beautiful Betsy is in Kroombit Tops NP about 80 clicks from Happy Rock. Anyone wants to ride it I am happy to be a guide although it's easy to find on the 4wd track.

Smithfield Mountain Bike Park in Cairns was pretty good - especially if you hook up to the top of the World's Downhill Track

Chase that feeling.

Mount Coramba is pretty crazy (on an XC is a bit bumpy) but there is some semi decent XC riding in the area too. Lots of lantana and a bit over grown. I was wearing a Full face (had to lead the normal helmet to a newbie) straight through a bush and still ended up with lantana gash across the face .

I think I have ridden 5 out of these 8 with you Eric, top rides. Actually I have ridden all of these trails you list and would rate all of your selections very highly. I think there are a few more trails I need to show you in the Mount Perry district that might end up at the top of your list, although maybe not quite inside the SE Qld criteria. Also if you are out in Warwick again after June I have some more great trail rides around the scenic rim i'd be happy to take you along.

There is some awesome riding at Goomburra in the Main range national park area. The views are awesome.

I went to goomburra to explore a couple of years ago and couldnt find anything decent only 4wd tracks - did i miss something?i think there would be heaps of potential there
