Usually best to have everything sorted before the day of the event though. If you can't do it yourself then take it to your local bike shop. It's very unlikely you'll need a pad change during the event that way.If no one at the MTB Dirt area is able or free then events like the Insomnia are often sponsored by a bike shop who has a mechanic on hand for that sort of work. Occasionally their labour is free.

Hey Bangers,I think the Dirtdogs are running a bike maintenance session on 19th July, followed by a skills clinic. Might be worth seeing if they will be covering this? I think it will be at Bunyaville toocents

what brakes do you have ... it should be striaght forward for most...Most have apint and a spring system. remove the spring and push out the pads and spring... then put the new pads and spring in and the pin ... not sure sometimes you need to open up the gap between the pads using something...this part im not sure of i just uoen it with a small flat head screw driver seems to work..cheers

I think I have the little spring thing. Hosed my bike down and it seems to be working fine so will save it for another day!

Probably best to wait for the specific event and post your interest. Usually an organise a team thread arises. If only this rain would stay away long enough to hold an event!

If you are like me, the week before. As soon as you know you are going to race then post. Otherwise, solo is great - ride at your own pace, no pressure, ride as much as you want or rest as much as you want. Always mtbdirt crew out to keep it social.

I realise how old this guide is but it's a great read, I'm doing my first event at Karingal 4hr so just starting to get everything organised and this has been a great help. Thanks.

I suppose you really need to do your first event to realise what you did right and wrong!
