Sorry lads - should have been more specific as have looked at both these options. I am after a flexible/extendable wall mount. Like the ones you can get for flat screen TV's. Have thought about one of these with the addition of velcro but going to leave it a few months and see if anything turns up.

Briefly... Slow startup speed of a laptop, weight of a laptop and multiple work reference catalogues, and microsoft.

Damn windoze and services and useless flubbers starting up when not necessary. Stopping all the un-necessary stuff starting up will increse the boot up speed. Mt last laptop took about 10 minutes to shut down and then restart. 09driving Talk about a wind up. We're gonna go with a Mac Book Pro...

just out of curiosity, I timed how long my new laptop takes to start up. its a widescreen with i5 processor blah blah blah, so basically its the current latest greatest mid level and cost just marginally more than an iPad (but it does do so much more). it took less than one minute from the time I pressed the button to when I could select a program to start. now if I am ever pressed to need something on the laptop in less than a minute then there is something fundemenatally wrong somewhere else. battery time is about 2 hours, so that is a limitation that I am prepared to accept for so much more capability and I am never that far away from some form of power supply whether it be 240v or 12v in a car. if I am that far away, then I probably need to get a life if I'm using a computer instead of enjoying my surrounds.

I bought a phone with this logo

So I didn't have that one. I care not for your skinny jean, riser bar, latte powered cool.

One thing I am not missing with my Ipad is the incessant reminders that I must update my halfbaked software every 2nd day.

I cant help but draw some comparisons with my belt drive SS.

Id say my Mac pro at work has more updates than my PC does these days.

I remember when DOSShell came out I think version DOS 5.0 had it. Suddenly you could use two or more programs at once without shutting them down. They didn't keep running in the background, but you could jump from one to the other and recommence processing/work from where you left of. It was good as it made you actually finish the work you were doing, only a phone (sitting on your desk) or a person could interrupt you, none of this email stuff.

I have spreadsheets now that would not even fit on my old work computers HDD. Operationg systems and programs like VP Planner Plus (spreadsheeting) fit on floppy disks. The good old days.
