FREEDOM MTB MARATHON SEPT 18th : : :

Hey MTBers,
It just dawned on me that the heading for the other post still had the old date on it (25th). And some of you may have been assuming (rightly so) that it was on that date. Its not.

The Freedom MTB Marathon is on Saturday Sept 18th in the Nightcap national park, Byron bay. Start time 9am.

60k/40k/20k and 5k kids event.
Great course (new trails and single track sections) added.
Great atmosphere in the National park.
Close to Minyon falls (bring the family) and camp out in Rummery park (Its beautiful!) and affordable.
Great trophies (top 3 in each category) and prizes!

Pre entries close Sept 13th (soon!)
All info and to enter go to www.summerofcycling.com

Cheers
Anthony

This event looks and sounds like a lot of fun - as long as it stays mostly dry the preceding week.

Has anyone considered enetering this event as a team? It's $10 cheaper each but you need to finish within 2 mins of your mate to be eligible for a teams prize (not that I'd be in contention anyway)

One of nicest settings for a MTB race imo, just pack a spare set of quads and you will be right.

Last years race looked a little like this

I think you're getting mixed up with the Mebbin marathon earlier this year.

Seems that I missed the deadline for purchasing a ticket as I can't find a link on the website.

I'm happy to turn up on the morning and purchase my ticket before 8:30 AM, I just don't want to go all the way down there and find that they have reached their 400 rider limit and not get a start.

Anyone know if there are enough tickets available?

I hope everyone had a great ride today. It certainly was fantastic weather for it. I headed out with Meg in the 2 person mixed with the aim to just head out for an enjoyable ride in some new country. The views along the way were really worth the climds, and the long 10k descent was something else, although it would have been better with a few turns and twists in it. As usual Meg was on fire, which says alot as she is supposed to be recovering from surgery a month or so back. All in all, i got my enjoyable ride, so I am happy. The lunch we were supplied was pretty good also.
