What a day! It was great to see so many people some out and race for the state championship title. The weather was against us during the week but we put some hard yards in just to keep the race on. I hope it was worth it for you riders. Thanks to everyone that came out to race or just support, without you there would not be a race.

Huge thanks has to go to Kenmore Cycle Club for putting on the event, Alex Hockey, Peter Rhule, Peter Janssen, Alison Forbes, John Forbes and Declan Kilkenny for doing the hard work to get the race going. Both on the day and behind the scenes. Thanks also needs to go to the volunteers on the day, track marshals and BBQ cooks.

Also, to our sponsors : Aussie Home Loans, Kenmore Cycles, The Local Bean Cafe, Erdinger Alkoholfrei. Please help out these guys, they helped out us. Lend a hand where you can Smile

RESULTS are up on the http://www.kenmorecycleclub.com/home/index.php website.

Pictures: I will stick them up, Conor Kilkenny took over 200 pics on the day, hopefully you find one of yourself!

Hopefully I've thanked everyone, with out them we cant have events. Look out for some more Kenmore Cycle Club events over summer!

Declan Kilkenny.

i love how you thanked yourself - classy

Big thanks Kenmore for a top event, it wouldn't have been easy after the rain. No doubt the wet kept some people away yesterday but I don't know why more people aren't into XC racing. There are plenty of people here who ride marathons and enduros and say they want more interesting and challenging tracks and there are others who say they want one-way tracks at Gap Creek and other places so they can ride fast. Well XC has got it all - climbing, descending, singletrack and it's social and family friendly with riders going past every 20-30 minutes and all over by lunch time. Anyone who rides Daisy, Bunya, Gap Creek and similar places will have good enough skills to enjoy most of the tracks.

Rowan killed Masters

I had a similar enperience to Jenzo

Just to clarify....this is Rowan with his gorilla bars.

Has always been a tough track at Mt Crosby and even more rocks and a downhill mud slide made it too hard for me to race 5 laps. I was hoping for 4 laps. Looks like lots of DNF's. But in the end we all rode the same track and Is stunning how Aiden knocked out a 15:48 lap.

Big thanks to organisers, volunteers, sponsors, riders and supporters. Without you all helping out and making it happen there would be no racing like this. OK, it won't make millions of $ but is great fun and very challenging for those who turn up and give it a shake.

I'm a bit dissapointed to be listed as a DNF. I was told by an official to finish. I would have quite happily gone around for another lap to be listed as finsher not a dnf. It would not have changed the results but still.

This was my first State Champs and even though i crashed onto the first rocky section(but completed 3 laps before pulling out) i still enjoyed it heaps. I have to get fitter and faster to be up the pointy end but i just like racing. who cares if you are the fastest or the slowest out there, just give it a go. 50 days off the smokes and going strong, extremly hard to break a 19 year habit but i have a goal to at least place in a race.

Unlucky.

I knew I was running dead last but was determined to finish and managed the 5 laps. I was wondering if they were going to tap me out but I'm glad they didn't. (You know you're in for a tough day when you're hiking your bike on the first lap!)

+1 I was peaved when the officials told me to finish after my fourth lap. I can understand that the volunteers and track wardens probably wanted to pack up and go home as soon as the presentations were over, but it took a long time for the whole event to wrap-up anyway. To let me finish the five laps it would have meant little to the race organisers, but a lot to me.

Otherwise, thanks to Kenmore CC -- a great race and a tough track.

Sorry about that , If I had of known what was going on I would have made sure you both got do the 5 . I'm not sure why they stopped you at 4 laps but it didn't have anything to do with packing up as we were still packing up at around 3.00pm anyway . We always try pretty hard to set a challenging and rewarding course so It was also a bit dissapointing for me, as one of the organizers, to see so many DNF's. Come back next year and you can do 6 if you want .
