Im interested in taking my bike up mount warning, il probably do a lot of bike pushing going up. my questions are ; has anyone here done it, is there a easy way to strap your bike to your back to climb up the chain at the end, How will my breaks handle the long trip down, should i use the front for a while then the back, so they have turns at cooling down, will i need new brake pads after the ride down. all hints and tips for me to go do this would be appreciated. Iv walked it twice a few years ago, but am so keen to take the mtb there.

Being a national park riding a bike there is not allowed. Binna Burra up the road from me is the same, it has some would be awesome single track.

Should be fun, lets see how far we can string it along.

Then I'm going for a night ride to Maiala national park & see if I can huck over a couple of wallabies & burn the eyes out of a few possums with my new 1800 lumen lights.

What these extremely important cyber megalomaniacs meant to say was, that whilst all of the surrounding National Parks are open to cycling, it's quite possible that this one is not due to the high level of pedestrian traffic.

Because of this, it would be a good idea to check with the relevant NSW authority before going all that way, only to discover that you can not ride there.

Cheers.

MOUNT WARNING

It's a "hiking" track not a "biking" track.

This thread is a bit like driving past a road accident, know you shouldn't look but just can't help yourself.

Sometimes us older guys forget what is was like being young. Things we know from experience may seem like common sense to us, but without the experience and having seen bikes at the site I can see Oryctolagus Cuniculas Stew was just asking a question, would be great fun if we were allowed in National Parks occassionly.

Hey Rabbit Stew,

If you're after a long hill climb in a rainforest, why don't you try the Duck Creek Rd SE of Beaudesert. I've not ridden it myself, but believe it's about 18km of steady upward grade with awesome views which takes you up the back of O'Reilly's. Then you get to ride it down.

Some of the guys on this forum (?Munrubenmuz, MTBDerek, Zadam etc) seem to be organising some interesting Forestry Firetrail rides in the Border Ranges lately which are also hilly and in the Rainforest.

As for Mt Warning, the good folk on here have already pointed out that it's off-limits to bicycles. Shame.

This is the wrong website. Mt Warning is in NSW.

Who knows what could happen in that crazy state. It could be legal to ride a unicycle backwards in National Parks between 9 and 10 pm on the 3rd Saturday of each month for all I know.

hey, give me a shout if you do end up riding this track, I live in the area and have allways thought it would be cool to do

Hey guys, it's probably not the best thing to attempt. This is a protected World Heritage listed rainforest, it's full of endangered animals and plants, and your tyre tracks will only cause damage on what is a soft and wet track. The local Bundjalung people don't really like people climbing the mountain either in the same way Uluru is not meant to be climbed due to its cultural significance. As exhilirating a challange it would be, it really doesn't need some mountain bikes climbing up / hurtling down causing damage.
