Greenslopes - bikeway section below the freeway, they are working on the inbound side of the bike path so all riders, walkers, dogs and runners are sharing a short section that is only one metre wide....

Perhaps that was a bit harsh...

it is more like 1.3 - 1.4 metres wide. Visibility through the fencing is good for the CBD inbound direction but poor for the outbound direction.

Footpath beside Baupame Rd is blocked completely with no pre warning. I had to walk the bike around it away from the road side.

I saw that obstruction Ozy... It was a bit silly but maybe the storm stopped them from finishing it right... Not sure if this link will work but here is the image of the bikeway taken from Ridge St Greenslopes this afternoon. http://pbckt.com/p2.NwwBb9

Sorry I didn't spot you Dean0... I've got tomorrow off so took the long way home adding 10km to the ride. Had a chat to a guy who made his own carbon fibre roadie. The bike really looked the goods.

Sorry Dean0, I didn't spot you either! Must because you've ditched those singlets! I had a pretty cruisy run home cos of the heat, but when I got into the garage and took my helmet off the heat welled up inside me like a huge bubble and squeezed all the sweat out into my eyes - excrutiating! Ah well, I only had to put up with it for the 10 steps into the pool, bike gear and all! Ahhhhhhhhhhh......

Looks like a change of address might be coming up for us, may be moving out to Wakerley down the track.

Anyone here commute into town from that neck of the woods? Would be keen to know what routes people use. For me, the less car traffic the better (ie away from main roads) but I'll see what people recommend. Cheers.

Wynnum Rd is not as scary as many would think.

I have had to ride to Manly Rd Tingalpa a few times in the last year and have ridden back along: Wynnum Rd to turn left on Molloy Rd. Turn right from Molloy onto Richmond Rd. Follow Richmond Rd up to Waminda St (now here I like to add kms in and ride Down Bennets Rd through to Old Cleveland then through Stones Corner).

You can ride Waminda onto Agnew St back to Wynnum Rd / Lytton Rd and take the shared path (aka footpath) on the North side of Lytton Rd down to Laidlaw Parade and through Mowbray Park. Just follow the blue BIKE symbols to take you to the Storey Bridge into the CBD.

If I was heading to town fro there....maybe like this, get onto Wynnum and cross under the gateway and right into Murrarie Rd and follow all the way around and right over the train lines at murrarie station, up over Queensport Rd Sth to the Gateway Bridge and up and over Bridge to Kingsford Smith Drive, then right into Schneider Rd and once over the bridge hang left onto pathway and follow all the way to Eagle Farm Racecourse, and then choose whatever way from here but I commonly go right into lancaster rd and follow all the way along till left into Anthony Rd and follow up and over the hill with right into Crosby and down the hill before left into Cooksley St, then right into Yulestar St and behind Breaky Creek hotel onto bike path over river and your choice either Ann St or back street via Skyring and Arthur tce to storey Bridge. There is a bike path from hamilton all the way to Breaky Ck along river but its bumpy as hell.

Its long way yeah but hey I go to Newstead not the city...plus I come from Sherwood as well...Smile

Wow. Awesome stat.

Out of interest, what's your one way most direct mileage?

About 26.6km.

I usually extend the return leg to around 30km to avoid some nasty spots. This week I found a route to avoid the dual lane roundabouts on Chatswood Rd (Springwood side). Loganites seems to be unable to use indicators making things incredibly dangerous on the bike anywhere let alone in those roundabouts.
