Trails - Mt Joyce Recreation Escape Park

Mt Joyce Recreation Escape Park

Scheduled for public opening APRIL 2011

The Mt Joyce Recreation Escape Park is well underway and scheduled to be open to MTB riders (and other trails for horses, walkers) in April 2011.

The dam wall is in place and the work on other infrastructure is being built now. When complete the Wyaralong Dam will not only have the MTB, horse and walking trails, but will also cater for kayaking and camping as well.

For MTB'ers the park already has a host of trails designed and built by recognized trail builders. At a 'media invitational' day in Sep 2010, one trail was ready to ride (others need bridges, tunnels, jumps etc to be completed) and even though it was a 'Blue' (intermediate skills needed) trail it impressed even the likes of recent ex World Downhill Champion Nathan Rennie and MTB Dirt's own Oppy, the man behind the great riding trails at Gap Creek!

Glen Jacobs (designer of World Championship Downhill courses) has designed the Black Diamond downhill trail for the park, and there will also be a 4X track and a skills park included.

In the map files you'll find a map courtesy of Qld Water Infrastructure that gives a great overview.

Eventually the Mt Joyce trails will be connected to the Ipswich to Boonah trail being delivered by Department of Infrastructure and Planning (ie the people from the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail).
