Russ Update 3 July - Oodnadatta Track leg 5
Got to see "Dark side"of the moon desert, painted desert, soon a glimpse on Lake Eyre. W.C.hotel has great atmosphere and fully supporting the RFDS fundraiser. Get your donations in folks.

      Photos are on their way.

I am due for departure from Coober Pedy on leg 5 today, but Mother Nature has changed my plans; or at least delayed them. There is a monstrous dust storm and northerly gusting wind here in Coober Pedy. It is quite pointless going out to do battle with the winds; they will win.

So in the meantime, I thought I'd share...

    • A Special Thanks

I've now finished 2 of the 3 "hard legs" of this epic desert ride. The Simpson still awaits, plus some other 2000km of remote outback riding.

The dust storm you mentioned must have been a monster ... it arrived here Thursday morning bringing the Coober Pedy dust with it. I think I can see you tyre marks in it ;-)

Enjoy hearing all your exploits on the track. I recall reading about Jakub getting a haunch of kangaroo on the CSR that he tucked into.

Looking forward to seeing you finish and hearing your exploits first hand. How about a lecture night when you get back? And where to display the bike and trailer?

      Hey Russel,
Congratulations on another job well done. It seems that your preparations, mental, physical, mechanical and logistic have stood you in good stead. Keep up the great efforts. The spot tracker is tremendous for following your progress. Regards Craig
