The recently completed Stage 1 (6.5km) of the Hinze Dam XC trail within The Peter Hallinan Mountain Bike Precinct, Hinze Dam has been opened for recreational riding. Gold Coast Mountain Bike Club Inc. have a land tenure with Seqwater for the management an upkeep of this facility. The trail is built to XCO standards with the intention of it being used for the 2018 Commonwealth Games, mountain bike cross country event.
Gold Coast MTB Club has been successful in obtaining further funding for construction of Stage 2 of the trail which will add a further 5km when completed and it is expected that commencement of works are imminent. Upon completion the trail will provide 11-12km of trail comprising Blue to Double Black Diamond difficulty.
Access to this trail is only possible via the Dam Information Centre at the end of Advancetown Road, Advancetown - it WILL NOT be possible to enter the facility via Gilston Road as the access gates will be closed except on days of official events. This trail will be constantly monitored by Seqwater and Club officials to ensure that no illegal trail building or trail changes occur. Normal trail etiquette applies with a reminder that all riders are to either take rubbish out of the Precinct or dispose of it in the bins provided. It is vitally important for the mountain bike community that we retain our land tenure at Hinze Dam with Seqwater in order to provide first class mountain biking venues in SE Qld. Further updates including Map files will be provided when available.
