Location - Coming from the Pacific Hwy follow Pembrooke Rd until you see the small sports fields and clubhouse on your left just after the tight right hand turn. Park there and the trail starts behind the small kids park area.
The Trail - These trails are home to the Hastings MTB Club and are primarilly for short track MTB racing. However, don't be fooled into thinking they are groomed and low in technical features because they certainly aren't.
We hit the trail head and went left in what appeared to be a clockwise direction although it turned out to be the opposite.
Before long, what seemed like rather boring trails suddenly dipped into fern filled sections with log rolls and several small jumps/hops and from then on it was a blast.
As you can see in the photos, there is a variety of trail features (many we didn't photgraph) and although the area is best described as flat, there are a few small climbs to be had and if you ride hard, you'll soon wear yourself out.
After recent rain the trail was a bit soggy in places but not boggy! The surface is mostly hardpack (very hard) so it stands up to the wet very well we think.
At around 10 km's for the main loop it doesn't sound like a big deal but there are plenty of other intersecting trails in there and some have great features on them like the big wooden berm and rock garden in one of the photos. Very well built and great fun.
