CROSS COUNTRY MTB
Mt Baw Baw Alpine Resort’s Village and McMillan trails meander through undulating terrain to the boundary of the Baw Baw National Park in the north. The single track course provides a good introduction into cross country mountain biking with challenging climbs and exciting descents. Raised decking has been installed over wet areas to ensure the trail remains in good condition throughout the season. The ride is picturesque with rest areas and picnic tables scattered along the trail.
All levels are catered for, meaning beginners right through to hardened experts can explore the area using pedal power!
Access to the Cross Country trails is FREE, bring your own bike or hire one from the Adventure Hub on mountain!
The trails will be open for x country mountain biking from December – April
Mt Baw Baw’s downhill mountain bike track has developed a reputation within the industry as one of the most challenging and exciting runs in the country.
The starting platform is located along side Currawong drive in the Baw Baw village and riders are faced with a large table top before disappearing down the old chairlift run. Riders meander in and out of the bush and tackle log drops, berms, boulder sections, rollovers, jumps and challenging downhill ramps. Australia’s best riders have conquered the 300 vertical metres plummet in just over 3.20 mins.
The main trail will challenge the most competent rider however those not so experienced have the opportunity to bypass the more difficult features via alternate routes. Just pay your $10 trail access fee at the Adventure Hub when you arrive on mountain, and you’re good to go.
A shuttle service back to the village will run every half hour from 10am to 4pm most weekends (1hr lunch break 12-1pm), riders also have access to bike washing facilities. We will only run the shuttle on week days if we have min 4 people (please call us to register your interest on a certain day and we will take down your number to call you if we get enough interest on that particular day). Please note that on major event weekends the shuttle will NOT operate, so it is recommended that you call ahead to see if the shuttle is operating on the weekend you are visiting us (ph 03 5165 1136)
